Description:

Global Compliance Services, a global provider of ethics and compliance solutions to the Fortune 1000, seeks a Corporate Revenue Accountant to join our fast-paced Finance Department, located in our corporate headquarters in the Ballantyne area of South Charlotte in North Carolina. This position is part of the Accounting team and is responsible for bookings, billings, month end close, analysis and reporting of revenue. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in general accounting and also be interested in tackling more complex areas involving revenue recognition.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:

  • Month-end: Participate in month-end processes, including preparation of journal entries and analysis, deferral and amortization of selected revenues, reporting and reconciliations of accounts associated with certain revenue streams
  • Analysis and Reporting: Analyze and research revenue accounting matters, providing accurate and comprehensive documentation of issues identified and resolutions reached
  • Contracts and Billings: Review contracts for revenue recognition implications and record such. Prepare monthly customer billings
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve broad, cross-functional business processes and related systems. Assist implementation efforts as required
  • Assist in implementation of new contracts management software and maintain database once implemented
  • Participate in due diligence work associated with acquisition targets
  • Participates in appropriate meetings, seminars and in-house training sessions

Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • Four plus years related experience
  • Knowledge and experience with general accounting, GAAP and revenue recognition
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, contracts management software and Accounting software such as MAS, Solomon or Great Plains
  • Well-developed problem-solving and analytical skills. Able to discern alternatives and make objective recommendations, understand how to effectively work with other business groups to accomplish goals
  • Strong Excel skills, with interest and aptitude to work with large amounts of data
  • Interest and aptitude to improve accounting systems and business processes
  • Preferred work experience in the software or services industry
  • Ability to interact effectively at all levels and across diverse cultures
  • Ability to function as an effective team member
